Let’s Talk About Hydroxychloroquine & Coronavirus

I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on TV. What I am is someone who has been taking hydroxychloroquine for the last five years for autoimmune disease, so I know about the drug from my research and personal experience.

A few days ago, the President of the United States announced at a press conference that hydroxychloroquine might be a cure for Coronavirus.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was quick to respond that it was too soon to make that claim.

“The FDA is committed to continuing to provide regulatory flexibility and guidance, but let me make one thing clear: the FDA’s responsibility to the American people is to ensure that products are safe and effective,” said Commissioner Stephen Hahn.

Despite that statement, the touting of use of the drug to treat the virus did not stop. In fact, President Trump tweeted on March 21st:
“HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. The FDA has moved mountains — Thank You! Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A), International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents)….”

“….be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, AND GOD BLESS EVERYONE! @US_FDA @SteveFDA @CDCgov @DHSgov”
