What I Lived as a New Yorker on September 11, 2001

I’ve been living in the Midwest for more than a dozen years now, but when September 11th comes around, I always remember I am a New Yorker. It’s an experience that the rest of the country can’t quite fathom as we were locked in place, waiting for friends and family, and whether or not we’d be attacked too.
